how i can pretty up a white trench coat?

i got a white trench coat dat i consideration was really cute but my frend sed it looked like a lab coat. after she sed dat i realized she was fair. i still like it but i hate dat it looks like a lab coat. how can i make it look more like a coat? da secular is thin cotton.

Jazz it up with a pin or open up and maybe even a colored belt.
